TIPS AND TACTICS FOR CLASS-XII EXAMS

TIPS AND TACTICS FOR CLASS-XII EXAMS

Mathematics:
Mathematics plays a pivotal role in the fields of Physics, Accounts, Commerce, professional courses such as Engineering etc.. Mathematics aids in improving logical and analytical thinking. The key to success is practice, practice, and practice!
° Prepare a separate handy list of important concepts and formulae to revise as often as possible.
° Study basic concepts and master the applications of the formulae.
° Have your doubt clearing sessions with your teacher as soon as possible.
° Focus on the topics which carries high weightage of marks.
° Previous years’ papers/ sample papers/model papers practice within the time frame can give you an extra edge.
° Focus on your weak areas and brush up on already completed topics.
° While practicing, solve problems in the required format.
° Make an effort to write answers neatly and pay attention to details.
° ‘Xam idea’ provides you with a variety of questions from different topics to gain speed.
° Do not get stuck on to a question for a long time, if unable to solve, leave space for it and move on to the next question;
° Even if you are unable to solve the problem completely, write known little steps. They count.
° Keep at least 05 minutes for the revision of answer sheets.

Physics:
° Thoroughly go through all derivations, definitions, diagrams and memorize formulae and units of physical quantities.
° Practise a variety of conceptual questions based on the application of laws/principles and solve related numerical.
° Solve the last five years’ board papers under exam conditions, confining yourself to the time limit of three hours. This will help you to remember the pattern of the paper.
° Meditate and go for a walk. This will amplify your concentration power.
° Read carefully in first 15 minutes of ‘ reading time’ given at the commencement of the exam. Check out the marks assigned to each question.
° Make proper choices amongst the internal choices given.
° Answering tips: (a) attempt definitions to the point. (b) give introduction while presenting derivations. (c) Clear mathematical steps with highlighted final result. (d) Support graphical questions and conceptual problems with correct reasoning. (e) Solve ‘Numerical problems’ in a logical systematic manner.
° Follow the proper sequence, as per the requirement of the question.
° Wherever possible, give examples and diagrammatic representation of answers.
° Do not to spend too much time on one particular question at the cost of other questions. Questions asking to ‘Distinguish’ or ‘Differentiate’ should be written in a tabular form.
° Do not waste time in answering the same question twice. Marks will be given in the question attempted first and the question attempted later is ignored.

Chemistry:
It is a high-scoring and less time-consuming subject as compared to other subjects.
° The questions on Organic and Inorganic Chemistry can be attempted first to save time and these are fact-based and can be solved very quickly. This in turn will boost your confidence and give ample time for rest of the paper.
° Prefer in-depth study of the subject and extensive practice to acquire speed and accuracy.
° Reactions in Organic Chemistry are extremely important. Prefer to give examples while attempting.
° Paste a chart of all the important formulae on the back of a door, where you can see it on a daily basis.
° For physical chemistry- practice numerical problems on all formulae discussed in these chapters. Reasoning-type questions should be revised in-depth.
° For inorganic chemistry- Develop the understanding of concepts to be able to write balanced chemical equations.
° The last three chapters are useful for value-based and reasoning-based questions.

English:
English Comprehensions/Unseen passages: Read the comprehension thoroughly;, at least twice. The questions framed in the reading section are always in sequence.

Writing section: Use rich vocabulary, quotes or phrases by famous authors. Pen down your thoughts clearly. This section analyses the writing skills and abilities. Follow the correct format religiously.

Literature: Coherent and lucid answers should be written. Express the views distinctively. Read the questions carefully, only answer what is asked about.
° Divide the allotted time as per the sections.
° Presentation is also important while attempting the paper. Draw margins; Write neatly; Leave proper space, wherever required. Highlight important phrases or sentences.
° Solve previous years’ question or mock question papers in order to learn time management.
° Visualize your paper as easy and do your best.
