Centre(Law Ministry) Declared Justice Deepak Misra will be Next Cheif Justice of India (45th Cheif Justice)

Law Ministry declared next justice Dipak Misra as 45th chief justice after the president (Rashtrapati) Kovind confirmed his name. He will replace incumbent justice JS Kehar on August 27. Justice Misra has a total tenure of 13 months.

जस्टिस दीपक मिश्रा देश के 45वें चीफ जस्टिस होंगे. केंद्र सरकार ने राष्ट्रपति की मुहर के साथ ही ये घोषणा कर दी है। मौजूदा सीजेआई जेएस खेहर 27 अगस्त को रिटायर हो रहे हैं और इसके बाद जस्टिस मिश्रा मुख्य न्यायाधीश का पद संभालेंगे। वे 3 अक्टूबर, 2018 तक इस पद पर रहेंगे।

  • Justice Dipak Misra, 63, headed the bench which rejected last-ditch efforts by Mumbai blasts convict Yakub Memon to get his execution stayed.
  • Justice Misra also headed bench which upheld the Delhi High Court's verdict sentencing to death the four convicts of the sensational 16 December 2012, gang-rape-cum-murder case of Delhi.
